Learnings from W2 2012
This week has been good in many ways.
- I've practised to speak in front of 9-20 people
- Educated colleagues in lean philosophy
- Used my creativity to find new solutions
- Have got more understanding regarding my work
The week has been good in sense of delivering at time and proper quality at work. Besides the good stuff at work there have been challenges out of work.
- I haven't exercised at the gym since Tuesday
- Have't slept that much
- Extremely dry in my mouth
- Eating 75% GI-food with challenging symptoms (trying to lose 3-4 kilos)
Concluding all above I feel like I'm doing the right stuff.
Sincerely
Hugo

Japan review
Subway
Narita airport
Streets/walkways
Japanese people (civilian)
Japanese people (professional)
Public toilets
It's forbidden to talk in your cell phone during ride with trains. The result is that most of the trips are quiet and amost 50% of travellers sleeps in the train. 50-60% of all used the phone to text or enter the internet. Approx 10% used their PSP (playstation portable). Only tried the subway in Tokyo, where 6-8 companies shared the rails.
Narita airport
Free internet acess (Wi-fi).
Streets/walkways
Always cleen, not an single trash paper on the ground.
Japanese people (civilian)
Extremely helpful people, they always do their best and sometimes more. I had the opportunity to talk and hang out with locals, even though we only talked about simple things. No deep talk, since most of them didn't speak fluent english.
Japanese people (professional)
Service minded 3.0. Never met more honest and professional people than the japanese. If asking for directions they walked with almost half way and write you a map.
Public toilets
Always free everywhere. All are very clean and never grafiti painted.
Bullet trains
Great organized regarding tickets, queeing, space inside train, how to clean trains, how to maintenance trains. Always in time. Forbidden to speak on your cell phone, besides in the hall ways between cabs.

Learnings from W39-W42
Hi,
I haven't improved anything since the last notice in this blog. I have done improvements, but only short term improvements. Such as meeting a business advisor at the municipality where I presented my business ideas. Why I see this as a short term improvement? Because I haven't done anything to change my manners/behavior towards entreprenur thinking. As much help as I got during that meeting I will probably not get again. So if something gonna happen it has to happen this autumn.
To be continued...

Learnings from W38...
Hi,
The victories has to be my swimming results at Fjärran höjder, from 900 m in the end of august to 1300 m last Thursday. Next time I'll go for 1500m=)
The ability to plan my assignments hasn't improved, that's just a fact. Neither has my ability to be alert on a management meeting after 15:00. Another example of my inability to plan in ahead must be renting cars. The last 3 or 4 times renting a car has been the same last minute solution experience. Maybe because I rely on my ability to solve problems in last minute, or just because it's a low priority among other decisions and assignments.

Another good experience from last week is my work with production planning and lean training at health care departments, specially the one in Bollnäs.
Finally I want to mention my birthday last Friday, it was awesome. During the day I received several gratulations by e-mail, SMS, and Facebook. I can't deny that it ment alot.
Thank you!

My learnings this week...W37
Hi,
This is a note trying to explain my leanings from the past week, haven't done this before and don't know how the result will be. My aim is to reflect on things that might help me become a better person, not because I have to but because I want. If I can change I will do all that I can do adapt to the possible better me.
Another thing that I started to think about this week is whether I'm suited for a manager position or not. This came up during my employee developing meeting. Quite soon after my reflection I became satisfied in my mind that a manager position would not be the only career improvement, at least at my current job there are alternative positions in same career level as becoming a manager.
Something I have improved this week, without really knowing that I had, is my ability to stay calm and professional during network meetings. This was practiced on Saturday while attending Exclub with Nova Pro at Café Opera in Stockholm. I had several successful meetings and collected 8 business cards.
I also found out during the weekend that I can't be lack of sleep more than a couple of hours (normally hours of sleep per night is 8 hours), otherwise I will react different in all situations. This I need to improve imediately.
Sincerely
Hugo

The last week has contained alot of work with budget, a new and powerful experience I probably will be part of in any future company from now on. The work has tested my ability to be patient which has been mentioned by two colleagues while helping them with the annual planning. Both mentioned that I had alot of patient while helping them. I know that I often can be patient but hearing it from other persons specially from colleagues is something I value alot.

Something I need to improve from this week is to plan my assignments in a better way. Without knowing how long different tasks will take there are no chance doing a realistic plan.

be honest with myself...
I think I've been living others dreams/goals instead of my own, or maybe overdoing of both. It can't continue and I have to come back to a balanced life.
It's nothing serious but it certainly affects how I feel and how others picture me.

I miss playstation evenings, spontanious gatherings with friends, hard and fun workout. I year ago there wasn't any other priority than developing my academic skills and get a bachelor degree. That goal has changed and a new path with goals has appeared.
Adjustment och re-course has begun.

New job...
Since February 1 I'm employed at County council of Gävleborg. It's an interesting field which has grown the last two years, health care.
My main mission is to lead and initiate Lean activities within division Medicin. It's a division with approx. 700 employees. The main challenge is to get acceptance for the Lean philosophy.
Mobile pics...
Found on my friends car one afternoon - Hilarious!

My niece, Liv (one week old), with her protector and hopefully future hero=)

Excellent wine tasting at "Lilla Örebro". We tasted three different grapes, but only one was no1; Pata Negra Grand Reserva from Italy.

"Lilla Örebro" had also very tasty cocktails. The one to the left is a "Daquiri" made of passion fruit, the other is a "Porn star".
Islandic reunion in tune...
Last weekend we decided to have a reunion. The participants was tobbelir, haukur, Pusalir, and me. The trip was made in december to celebrate new years eve, and although the time since then we all had strong memories to tell.

For natural reasons all buddies couldn't join; we missed Kay and Ivan.
The four of us started the day (sunday) by having coffee/lunch at Waynes (in Eskilstuna). After lasangia, sallad, and lots of coffee we continued our day event to Martys crib. First we had a look again at all the photos we had captured in Iceland, which was a perfect start and memory strenghening for the coming discussions and stories.
Later we decided to make an awesome dinner together, but neither of us wanted to spend lots of time cooking it. We fully accepted the easy but time saving dish - Pizza, done by refabricated dough ready to bake.
Later that day, back in Örebro, I went to the cinema. We saw "Due date", who wasn't bad at all, but neither splendid. My resumé would end by saying 3 of 5.
